The initial research proposal will consist of the following SIX (6) items:

1. Identify a business research topic
2. Define the research questions for the identified problem or opportunity
3. Select the appropriate research methodologies and techniques to use for the research project
4. Describe the research process
5. Describe data collection and analysis methods
6. Describe expected research outcomes

Introduction

Training and development are considered a human resource management activity that assists employees to develop their skill sets for enhancing their performance at work. The key objectives of a training and development program are to instill required knowledge and skills, assist employees' current performance, career progression as part of management succession, give the wide perspective of company operations and customer education (Chand, 2015).

This project is designed to analyze the effectiveness of training and development program among employees of a company. 

Project Focus

Evaluation of training and development programs is essential to analyze and understand its reach among employees. Changes observed in social, economic and technological areas have brought forth changes in the definition, scope, training methodologies and evaluation techniques (Abernathy, 1999). Training and development evaluation helps in understanding the desired effect of the training attended by the employees. It helps in gaining details on the effects and value created by a training and development program.

This study will focus on the training and development programs adopted by the mining company BHP Billiton and its effectiveness on BHP Billiton's employees.

The topic chosen for this study is 'Evaluation of Training and Development Programs in BHP Billiton Australia'.

The key purpose of this study is
