1. Introduction

We are in a modernised world where there is no boundary to differentiate economies. Further, technological growth is fuelling this scenario where communication has become instantaneous. This has simplified the business functions and enhancing performance. In this globalised world, there is a need for educated professionals to handle business operations and meet customer requirements. I chose Business Research subject as it can be related to different fields such as economics, strategy and ethics, which play a crucial role in business organisations. This reflective journal covers my learning experience over the 12 weeks and how I performed in Assignments 1 and 2. In this reflective report, I have explained my learning experience during the Business Research subject, the learning process and its outcomes and future applications of this learning.

2. Effectiveness and Usefulness of the Learning Experience

As I have future plans to pursue higher studies, I chose the Business Research subject as part of my graduation, hoping that it would help during my thesis work. Based on my observations during the sessions, I determined that the main aim of this subject was to offer a clear understanding of the research process and the different methods adopted. This learning experience was very useful as I learnt about the research process. This involved the identification of an issue is being researched, search for related information and formulate the research topic. I understood the importance of research in business organisations and how it helps them to improve performance.  Apart from this basic step, further procedures involved the identification of the research approaches, data collection methods and how to interpret the results.  I learnt that there are different techniques to gather information from different sources. This learning experience offered me clarity about the step-by-step procedure in which business research is organised to ensure the outcomes are of good quality. 

Towards the end of the sessions and with the completion of assignments, I associated my learning experience with the expected learning outcomes of this subject. I observed to have gained a significant understanding of the research plan, methods, ethical issues faced by researchers like me and how to overcome those and the need to maintain professional behaviour. I was able to apply the learning in a real-time situation through my research topic, “Impact of Audit Quality on the Financial Performance of AU firms”. My ability to evaluate the existing research materials related to the research topic and how it impacts a business environment has improvised. Based on this learning, the value I have gained is that my skills to assess the best research methodology for the research problem have improved. For my assignment, I was able to assess the advantages and disadvantages of using qualitative and quantitative methods before making the correct choice.
