• Use the APA 6th edition referencing style and list the bibliographic references at the end of your work that correspond to your in-text citations

Introduction

Most organizations across the globe are experiencing a paradigm shift towards a data-driven business culture. Big data and cloud computing are playing a major role in this. (Tekurkar, 2014). The convergence of cloud computing and big data is reported to offer a cost-effective delivery model. (Intel, 2015). The success of this model relies on the value created by technologies. This study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of cloud computing and big data in the revenue generation. This research plan is designed to have five sections – focus area of the study through research questions, research methodology, data collection and data analysis. The plan also includes risk involved and issues arising from using a specific research methodology or data collection method.

Focus of the Study

The growth of data is exponential. With data being the fodder for current organizational developments, big data and cloud computing technologies have become the hot spot for current information technology development. (Tian & Zhao, 2015).

This study will focus on companies which have successfully implemented cloud computing and big data technologies in their organization. The growth and impact of big data and cloud computing technologies in companies are reviewed in this study.

Purpose

The key purpose of this study is,

1. To investigate the business preference towards big data and cloud computing 
2. To identify the key activities or reasons for which the companies prefer to have big data in cloud computing.
3. To understand the importance of data and its management in an organization
4. To explore the effectiveness of implementing big data and cloud computing technologies on an organization
5. To understand the value created by the implementation of big data and cloud computing.
6. To identify the monetary benefits reaped by companies with the implementation of big data and cloud computing.
7. To understand the challenges faced by companies in their shift towards data-oriented technology
8. To explore strategic intent and the role of business managers in choosing the technologies
